In this interview, Ross Pelton, the Natural Pharmacist, discusses the risk of drug induced nutrient depletions. This is a serious issue for everyone who uses medications. Many if not most medications carry the risk of side effects and nutrient depletions. These risks are not usually shared with patients and they are not usually defined by the drug companies.

Anti-cholesterol drugs: HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitors, AKA statin drugs. Here is a class of drugs in search of a disease. Statin drugs are prescribed for everyone who has a cholesterol level of 200 or greater. However studies have shown that they are only beneficial for 1% of the patients who use them. In this instance, statins are not beneficial for most people for reducing heart attacks, strokes or death. However statin drugs have side effects and can cause nutrient depletions, especially CoQ10.
